For the New User What is QwikMarx and how it can help build your Ad or Multi-Fold layouts? When laying out an ad with a multi-fold layout, commonly used programs like Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator or QuarkXPress do not offer options to display size dimensions like Bleed, Trim, and Live Area. Folds marks that you would find in a three fold brochure, as in a direct mail or promotional piece, are also not shown. To often, showing the dimensions on screen and in your printouts is overlooked because it is both time consuming and difficult to manually layout these dimension marks. QwikMarx can build complex layouts, yet is simple to use with your favorite program. QwikMarx is a plug-in/XTension that lets you display your projects dimensions in the layout program of your choice. When you choose QwikMarx, a dialog box appears on screen. Simply keystroke in the dimensions of your particular project and click the "OK" button. The dimensions you've entered are displayed over your document. It's that simple. QwikMarx is your solution for building more accurate layouts, making it easier for everyone involved to see the dimension marks on-screen or in a printout. With QwikMarx, these marks are displayed for you on the document itself. This means as any ad moves through the stages of publication, each person working on the ad has a precise understanding of what the Trim, Live and Bleed dimensions are, as well as what the fold dimensions are, if any. This ensures that a person looking at the ad always has the exact dimensions of the ad, whether it has been scaled down, or printed at full-size.
